Workshops
Workshop 1 (Bioinformatics): Biomolecular Visualization- by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Choi Sy Bing (Perdana University & Alterquo Sdn. Bhd.)
Visualization of biomolecule aids to explore the molecular structure and its properties prior to the laboratory experiments and thus, significantly reduces the number of experiments. By analyzing the molecular structure, observing its behaviour and its reactivity with other molecules, understanding the complex processes and interactions can be obtained. This workshop provides an overview on techniques or tools that have been developed in the fields of molecular graphics and visualization with a focus on applications in structural biology. Tools such as Pymol, VMD, Ligplot+ and Plip will be used in the workshop to facilitate high quality molecular graphics and interaction diagrams.

Workshop 2 (Healthcare Data Analytics): Finding Meaning in High-throughput Healthcare Data - A Beginner's Introduction to Disease Variant Detection- by Dr. Kenneth Ban Hon Kim (National University of Singapore (NUS) &
National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC), Singapore) Precision medicine is poised to be an integral part of healthcare, driven by the increasing adoption of next-generation sequencing technologies. This workshop aims to introduce participants to identification of potential disease-causing variants from patient sequence data. It will be conducted using a scientific notebook for documented and reproducible analysis. This workshop is a beginner's introduction to sequence analysis aspect of genomic medicine.
